TwoJays Corner Antiques & Vintage

A little about us...
We are an independent Antiques shop and have been trading since 2006 when we started up in a corner at Wolverhampton Antiques Market. We are Jacquie and Jeff, hence the name TwoJays!!

You will find at TwoJays Corner an eclectic mix of Antiques & Vintage ... furniture restored and sometimes upcycled,
accessories for your home and garden, collectable items including pottery, porcelain, glass, silver, linen, so much more
And always something a little unusual or quirky.
Our motto has always been ‘Something for everyone and all sizes of pockets’ .

We have been featured on BBC's Antique Road Trip four times now and have had visits from Charles Hanson, Christina Trevanion, Paul Laidlaw, and Margie Cooper with the singer Tony Christie. There is even a video of a visit in the ecopy of the Sunday Express where Tony and Margie make an embarrassing gaffe!! https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/844630/Celebrity-Antiques-Road-Trip-Tony-Christie-Margie-Cooper-Jimmy-Osmond-Catherine-Southon-TV

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT TWOJAYS...

We are moving to Unit B5 TF7 4JR
The last two years at Twojays have been too emotional and I had started to think it was time to retire. That thought didn't last very long, I'm not really ready to throw in the towel, so I decided to move instead and have a refresh.

 We have been based in Shifnal since 2012 so I didn't really want to move too far away and Tweedale seemed to be the ideal location, near to Shifnal and in close proximity to Ironbridge. The new shop will be slightly larger with a slightly smaller outside section for garden furniture and garden statuary.

We will be having a preview evening with drinks and canape's and an opening weekend.
So far we are looking at Mid May but these dates will be confirmed towards the end of April.

Do follow us on Instagram and facebook for all of Twojays latest news.

In the meantime I would just like to say Thank You for sticking with me during the last couple of (turbulent) years

Stencilled Estate Cupboard Antique
We changed our opening hours during this summer and we have decided to keep them the same for the winter, finding it cost effective and sustainable too.
However, If you find yourself in our area and wish to visit us outside our normal hours then we will gladly open up our shop for you, we may very well already be there working in the workshop on a new furniture project.

The cupboard on the left is a late 18thC oak and pine estate cupboard. This has been restored and the pine sides have been stenciled with a harlequin pattern in blue, green and cream. Influenced by a recent visit to Florence

Our furniture projects in waiting include 2 small Victorian housekeeper/kitchen cupboards, A 1960's drinks cabinet, a 1970's television cabinet waiting to be converted to a drinks cabinet, a 1920's gramophone cabinet waiting to be converted to a drinks cabinet and a Victorian oak extending dining table that needs refinishing - phew!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a strange time recently at Twojays.
It's been 12 months since we lost Mr Twojays (Jeffrey).
My breast cancer treatment has gone well although it has left me tired so our opening hours will continue at 3 days a week (Wed, Sat & Sun) with viewing by appointment only for the remaining days of the week.
With the help of good friends we have managed to keep Twojays muddling along.
I would like to thank all our visitors for your support during this awkward time and also sincerely apologise to all the visitors that came and found us closed. I am so sorry that you had a wasted journey.
We have also been on the TV again this year, Antiques Road Trip, series 26, Episode 3 with Ochuko Ojiri. Then the BBC came to visit us again on 22nd March when Irita Marriott and the Antiques Road Trip crew came filming again !! and apologies to the four people that came visiting when the BBC were filming that afternoon.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November this Year and had my first round of treatment on the 21st December.
I have some good friends who will caretake Twojays for me whilst I am out of action. Online sales will continue to be dealt with, the shop however, will only be open every Wednesday, 10:30 to 4:30, during January.
The shop will be open by appointment only for the rest of the days.
Call 01952 462340 for an appointment.
Thank you for your understanding.
We had lots of new stock added prior to my diagnosis, so please do still come and visit.
. We have been very remiss here at Twojays over the last 12  months keeping our web site up to date.
Mr TwoJays was very poorly last year which in November ended with him in hospital with double pneumonia and also having a lung collapse. He seemed to make good progress health wise but in Mid January this year we had the devastating news that he had possible lung cancer.
Sadly he passed away on 1st April.
I miss him dreadfully and it has taken me a while to get myself together and get TwoJays back on track.
I would like to thank everyone for all their kind words and support, in the shop, facebook, twitter and instagram, over the last couple of months. It has helped me a lot x
Visiting Twojays from Monday 19th July...
Until further notice, the wearing of masks and gelling of hands will still be required by everyone visiting Twojays as all staff are very vulnerable with underlying health conditions.
It is a small thing to do to keep us all safe and sound.
Thank you for your co-operation
COVID19 - CORONAVIRUS
Dear Customers old and new,
Twojays will be closed until the Government re-assess in 3 weeks time, when hopefully things will be looking better.
You can still browse online at our shops on Etsy and Antiques-Atlas, why not make a wish list for when things get back to normal
Please stay safe and well
Monday 23rd March 2020
COVID19 - CORONAVIRUS
Dear Customers, old and new,
From today, Twojays will only be open by appointment only.
We have a large shop and it will be easy to follow health advice and keep social distance.
I shall be at the shop every day between 11am and 3:30, I have to come to feed the cats at Twojays and while I'm there I will be posting every item of stock that we have online to our etsy shop and antiques atlas.
If you do want to visit to buy something you have previously seen or something that you have seen online, we have hand sanitiser and our card machine is wiped clean after every use.
Please remember to keep your distance but please, do not come if you have any flu or cold like symptoms.
If you want to check us out then why not take a peek at our shops on Etsy and Antiques-Atlas
You can call us on 01952 462340 to arrange an appointment or simply ask a question regarding any item of stock we have.
It's a sad decision to make and we, like so many other small businesses had such plans for this year but our customers and our health is most important to us.
 Stay safe and well, we will beat this. ❤️
Sunday 22nd March
COVID19 - CORONAVIRUS
Dear Customers, old and new,
We are still open at TwoJays for the time being but to safeguard you and us, we have set rules for you to follow when you visit us.
We have hand sanitiser at the counter when you come in, please use it before looking around the shop.
Please keep your distance from other customers and staff at TwoJays.
If paying by card, our card machine is safe to use, it is sanitised after every use.
If you prefer to shop online, via our Etsy shop or Antiques_Atlas, we are still still posting parcels via Royal Mail or Parcelforce and our courier, Charlie, is still delivering large items. We can even arrange collection of an item without you even setting foot in our shop.
If you have questions about an item that you would like to purchase you can contact us on 01952 462340 during opening hours.
Thank you for your support and please stay safe and well during this worrying time :-)
RE DELIVERIES
Announcement from The Royal Mail - Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. From experience with other coronaviruses, we know that these types of viruses don’t survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels.
PLEASE NOTE :- If you live outside the UK, please check that your country is still accepting mail from the UK before placing your order. If mail is still being posted to your country we have been advised that there could be delays so please do be patient.
For larger items our courier is still working and delivering and following strict hygiene rules.
Tony Christie and Marjie Cooper come to visit us
Touching an object influences your judgment about what to buy.
A study found that shoppers had more confident impressions when they touched something.
Most collectors know this already.
So, if you like to go to shops where you can feel collectables instead of buying online, you are being smart...
